Create a flyer or banner with quotes from Rosa Parks to celebrate her life and all her milestones. Whether it's February 4 (her birthday) or December 1 (her arrest day), commemorate the civil rights leader's day on your company's corporate social networks or personally.
Rosa Parks performed an act of civil disobedience. With a historic arrest, she managed to bankrupt the NAACP (the Montgomery bus company that stopped her because of the racist laws prevailing at the time) and also spark the political debate that led to segregation no longer being legal and constitutional.

What is Rosa Parks famous for?
In 1943 Rosa Parks boarded a bus driven by driver James Frederick Blake in Montgomery, Alabama. After paying her fare, Blake told her to get off and enter the bus through the back door, as all African Americans were supposed to do. When Rosa Parks complied and got off the bus, Blake started the bus and left her on the ground. That day, Rosa decided never again to get on a bus driven by Blake.
However, on December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks got on a bus with other black people without noticing who was driving the bus. A few stops later, a white passenger got on. It was then that Rosa saw James Blake, who said:
- "You'd better get up quietly and vacate those seats."
The other three black passengers complied. Rosa Parks refused. For this, she was arrested and fined $10, plus another $4 in court fees. This case sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which bankrupted that company. And, of course, it sparked a political conflict that went down in human history as it ushered in the gradual dismantling of segregation laws in the USA.
